What's Your Beauty: The Moments In Between
Siia Cosmetics: Tell us about a moment or memory that is most beautiful to you.
Avery: Antique shopping with my mother.. She showed me a love for things that are otherwise often overlooked or forgotten. To look for the details that make it unique. This lesson and experience has stayed with me through every other part of my life. The endless hours in a car with the windows down, with road snacks, our back seat filled with treasures after a long day, Elton John or Queen playing on the radio.. After her passing, I stopped going.. But as I write this, i think it’s time to journey back out, and make this memory a moment again.
Siia Cosmetics: When do you feel most beautiful?
Avery: I feel most beautiful when I am connecting with a person, place, or thing and allowing myself the opportunity to explore outside of my comfort zone. When you find that common thread that allows you to explore a different walk of life.. I LOVE to read, to travel, to savor a meal that I have never tried before, to laugh with abandon with a stranger… I really find a subtle beauty in these moments that continues to captivate me.
Siia Cosmetics: Who is your biggest beauty influence and why?
Avery: My biggest beauty influence would have to be nature.. I love taking inspiration from a shade or shape I find intriguing when out on my travels. There’s always something to learn from nature that continues to inspire. I also have a love for noir, foreign films and old westerns. There's something really special about blending historical elements for a timeless look.
Siia Cosmetics: What makeup product or technique makes you feel most beautiful?
Avery: I really love the look of natural, radiant, glowing from within, healthy skin.. So I usually add concealer and a light foundation to key places on my skin depending on what’s needed, followed by a glass of lemon water and meditation when I can. What we put on our skin sinks in, so finding ingredients that are beneficial to healing & nurturing is huge for me, which is why I really love Siia’s Concealer and Foundation. Avery: Allowing yourself the patience to learn/unlearn and evolve as your life continues to unfold. Life is different for everyone, that’s what makes us so unique, and I love connecting with people who are curious enough to ask why in life. Gratitude is one of the most beautiful traits as well, and being able to allow yourself the freedom to feel that, and to travel through life with this I think is a secret beauty elixir. It radiates from within

To me beauty is raw, unfiltered, it is strong in its sensitivity, it is exploring and redefining, it has no set rules to follow. It is connection, it is simple moments, it is an amazing meal you’ve never tried before, it is a glance between lovers, a hidden treasure that took hours to find. It is patience, learning, embracing, connecting. It is asking why, questioning comfort zones and daring to love yourself as only you can. It is quiet and sensitive, strong and captivating.. Beauty is hidden in the moments in between, and it’s up to us to find it.
